An open invitation
I've been building projects for clients in the Bay Area and Europe for the past nine years. I'm looking for a cofounder who's serious about building something useful using the latest technology, research, and open source projects available. As the barrier to entry for building software and hardware keeps falling, I believe shooting higher than ever is both possible and realistic.
I believe technology and science are the most powerful tools humans can use to do whatever we want. The data to build alien-like technology and solve the most challenging problems is out there. A company is a vector toward a narrow goal or set of goals, but that only depends on its stage. I try to think as much as I can from first principles, and there's no scientific explanation that wouldn't make me adapt if the evidence is presented.
The high-level plan is to build something useful using the latest research, open source technologies, and the creativity we bring together, not being afraid to do “things that don't scale” to experiment and learn what works and what doesn't. We can talk in detail about the specific products I want to build, the areas I'm interested in, and why.
I value authenticity, forming your own opinions, and staying in constant awe of nature and science. I think optimism is a very important factor. I value contrast, forming your own philosophies in life, pragmatism, hard work, non-complacency, and an attitude of constantly learning, running experiments to gather more data and re-strategize. I value someone who understands the system doesn't provide all the answers and in fact constrains human potential. That said, we need substantial common ground about the future, ways to solve problems together, and we need to enjoy working together.
I'm taking seriously the search for the right person to build with for the next three to five years, as a commitment and maybe more. A few options I propose: we can work on a smaller project together for a while and see how it goes; we can meet in person in San Francisco and discuss details; or we can polish an early strategy together and apply to YC or another incubator.
If this resonates, reach out and tell me what you're thinking about.
